A MAN whose daughter died from dehydration after he left the three-year-old all day in his parked car in blazing sunshine while he was at work was placed under police detention in Chalon-sur-Saone in western France yesterday.
The executive, who has not been named, forgot to drop the child off at her babysitter on his way to work on Tuesday. It was only when he picked up his five-year-old son at a day care centre at 5:30pm and was about to put him in his car that he discovered his daughter unconscious in the back seat.

The man, who is 38, drove to a fire station, where officers were unable to resuscitate her.

It is the second such tragedy in France in a week. Last Tuesday, a chemist forgot his son, aged two, after being distracted by a traffic accident, leaving the child locked in his parked vehicle for almost three hours.
