NANCY manager Pablo Correa says he cannot understand why Motherwell counterpart Mark McGhee has said the Lanarkshire side will "kick their teeth in" when the two sides meet tonight at Fir Park on Uefa Cup duty.
The Uruguayan refused to react to McGhee's comments after arriving in Scotland ahead of the second leg of their first round match.

McGhee used his Sunday newspaper column to hit out at the French club and their manager for showing disrespect before, during and after Nancy's 1-0 home win two weeks ago. He pledged Motherwell would respect Nancy – then try to "kick their teeth in".

Correa said last night "I don't feel there was any problem at the time. After the match we will talk about it in a calm fashion. I know the mental state of my players is good and I have nothing more to add."

McGhee claimed that Correa let out "wails of anguish" every time a Motherwell player challenged an opponent and complained to the referee about minor tackles.

But Correa said: "I don't remember being like that. I just simply want to qualify."

The Motherwell manager also used his pre-match press conference to claim that Nancy felt they only had to turn up to progress to the group stages.

But again, a rather bemused Correa denied the charge. "If that's the impression they have, it's a false impression," he said.

"I think we have to score a goal – it's important to score."

#1 My thoughts exactly.

McGhee's comments are a disgrace.

I hope Nancy dump him out of Europe.

I feel that maybe mcghee is getting found out a little now that the pressure is on. Sure he had a great first season in charge of motherwell but i think the hype he got was a bit OTT considering his record before was pretty bad, to be linked with the scotland job after one good season was crazy. Now that he's got that extra weight that expectation brings, he looks panicked and out of his depth

They say that football management is 70% psychology. So that makes it 1-0 Nancy (McGee og 0 mins)).

Come on Motherwell, do the talking on the park. Good luck.

McGhee should have just called them a bunch of Nancy boys and he'd have got away with it - as they don't get our sense of humour - the Uruguayan's !

Erm - I think that this is a bit of banter. Motherwell will not actually "kick their teeth in". Just a pity that they don't have a bigger fan base to cheer them on, but there's bigotry for you.

For me McGhee normally talks a lot of sense, so surprised by this.

Best of luck for Motherwell tonight.

Be a great result if they get through.

I am a fan of McGhee, but he let himself down with the Nancy outburst. I thought he could have been a bit more professional when he was asked about the Turkish player Kazim-Richards during Euro 08 who he signed for Brighton, but he also took the liberty to slag the lad off to the media. Poorly let himself down.

Apart from that, gets his players playing some really good attacking football.

#4 So we got Burley instead who had a quarter of a good year at Hearts :-( Neither McGhee or Burley are were up to the Scotland Job.

As for McGhee this is his season to prove himself and he's finding it a bit harder. I think he will be found out again.

"Kicking their teeth in", followed by heid buttin' and bootin' their bawz when they're doon!

It's the Scottish martial art of Fucku!

#11 - Burley had quarter of a sensational year at Hearts, and has also been awarded Manager of the Year in the Premiership.

Doesnt sound like McGhee, I think he is taking a leaf out of the Ferguson book of mind games.

Like all Scottish teams we will take any advantages we can get tonight, even the weather. Hope these is a full house to cheer the team on even though its on TV. As for the fan base being hit by the 'bigotry' factor its an issue all "wee" teams have in Scotland.

He was reacting to being treated like s*** in France. It's not professional to publicly say what he did but I hope they do what they say! Chances are it'll be talk & no action but I do hope they win. It's pathetic that Scots want his team to lose because of this. He was speaking honestly, if not cleverly in a pr sense, about his feelings. I thought Strachan's bouncing around like a wee laddie on tv at Villareal's free kick was more embarrassing. Of course it was a dive but since Celtic also like to get theatrical to get penalties & free kicks (Nakamura being a specialist) it's a bit rich to react when it happens against them.

#13 "Manager of the Year" one year and relegated the next.

Sacked by Hearts is the only thing sensational. Ten games is not a season...........................

Hes not top notch, he's mediocre at best.....

Will1875,

McGhee is being found out as well...........

Any manager can have one good season but maintaining it is the proof of a good manager and obviosuly Burley and McGhee fail in that dept.

Burley is Scotland manager because

a) He's good
b) He was not working and was cheap
c) Nobody else wanted the job

As with Smith and McLeish before him it was option B
