Unless is was because of lack of space, an article full of non sequiturs is not very convincing.

Is Dr Purves saying that our bodies will cope with whatever excess salt we pump into it simply by making us drink more, therefore we don't need to worry? Is it really that simple?

The effect on health of high salt intake never got even a mention in his article: don't high levels of salt increase blood pressure with all the problems that brings?
