Hearts 0
HEARTS lost to Bundesliga 2 outfit Kaiserslautern in the second match of their German tour last night.

After a 6-0 win over a local select team earlier in the week, Csaba Laszlo's men faced a far sterner test against the accomplished German secon
d-tier side in Marburg.

The game marked Laszlo's fourth friendly in charge and despite a disappointing result, the Hungarian will have been relatively happy with the way his players applied themselves.

Laszlo sent his side out in a 4-4-1-1 formation with Jamie Mole supporting Juho Makela, while Mike Tullberg, a trialist striker from Denmark, took a seat on the substitutes' bench.

After an opening period of which the only real excitement came when a streaker ran across the pitch after only a matter of minutes,

Hearts created the first noteworthy chance, but Makela headed over from an Andrew Driver cross. The Tynecastle side were holding their own and Laryea Kingston was unfortunate to see an effort go inches wide from the edge of the box. Makela then raced on to a fine through ball from Kingston, but the Finnish striker lifted his effort over the bar.

Makela was making his presence felt and the German defence had to act smartly to deal with a dangerous delivery from the Finn, before Marius Zaliukas nodded over from a Kingston corner. With the Edinburgh side looking lively, Mole then burst down the left and crossed for Kingston, but the Ghanaian was denied by a fine saving tackle.

Kaiserslautern then had their first notable effort when Sebastien Reinart saw a fine strike from 20 yards out turned away by Steve Banks before Florian Dick nodded just wide from a corner. The Germans scored what would prove to be the only goal of the game just a minute before the break when Erik Jendrišek fired home a superbly-executed volley from the edge of the penalty box.

The goal clearly had a galvanising effect on Kaiserslautern as they came out fired up in the second half, spurning a couple of fine opportunities to double their lead. Ruben Palazuelos was introduced after 52 minutes and his arrival helped stem the flow and give Hearts a foothold again. The Spaniard set Gary Glen, another substitute, but the youngster saw his effort blocked and was unable to turn home the rebound.

Midway through the second half, Danish trialist Tullberg entered the fray in place of Mole. Dick then set up Reinart with a superb reverse pass, but again the Germans lacked the killer instinct in front of goal.

Tullberg had his first chance to shine when he was released by a pass from Palazuelos, but the Danish forward lost his footing and the chance was lost. Jendrišek, trying to emulate his earlier heroics, saw another effort from 18 yards out well saved by Banks.

Christophe Berra was presented with a chance after Tullberg laid off Michael Stewart's delivery, but the captain was unable to capitalise.

Kaiserslautern: Sippel, Quattara, Ameclick, Reinart, Bellinghausen, Bugera, Demai, Reghecampfe, Dick, Jeudrisch, kotysch. Subs not used: Winger, Trapp, Schonheim, Brouiszewski, Rebholz.

Hearts: Banks; Thomson, Zaliukas (Karipidis 52), Berra, Wallace, Kingston (Glen 55), Jonsson (Palazuelos 52), Stewart (Husband 78), Driver (Ivaskevicius 55), Makela (Mikoliunas 46), Mole (Tullberg 68). Subs not used: MacDonald, McGowan, Ksanavicius, Templeton.

1 What was the old timers score against who knows or cares, it was a friendly and the JT's did ok with the players we have. All about fitness and looking at systems, who cares about results unless a team gets pasted 6-0

ChelseaJamtart,

5 i don't see how, nothing at stake other than pride and never wanting to lose. Friendlies are designed to get the squad match sharp you don't get any points after all hardly think a win of 6 against a pub team basically training match. So was Hearts friendly against the gerry league select.
I imagine the crutches and walking sticks and the odd wheelchair are out for the current buns at full time eh!

Diappointed but not concerned - not like it was a 0-6 thrashing in front of 20000 people. Better indication of progress against Hull next week.

Not even dissapointed in that result
We all know that wont be our forward line come the season start
Think Csaba will be learning about his squad all the time and everyone with half a brain knows the result is not the biggest thing in pre season
As long as we have a few signings in mind specifically a forward r/back and a keepe we will be fine
The punt1t says different though so i will apologise for having an opinion

Surely Laszlo has seen enough of Mole and Makela to join with guys like me in the opinion, that they are nowhere near good enough.
Big brush...big clear out. Start with Makela, Mole and Elliot.
10

huggs,

26/07/2008 08:23:27
Makela is a goalscorer
IMO should be given a chance we dont have anyone better agree with Elliot still hope for Mole although he will need to improve very quickly
Nade is not the answer so we are really toiling for a goalscorer
We dont even have a big scoring midfielder to help out in that department

Two Rangers stories on here yet punt1t comes on a Hearts thread and ignores his own
Strange guy sad guy pathetic guy take tour pick for the plick

Scoring goals is looking to be a problem in these friendlies (barring the amateur team) and that's no surprise. Midfield is pretty strong, defence isn't bad (apart from RB position) but our strike force is non-existent. Let's hope we bring in a couple of quality forwards before the league kicks off.

Oooh Oooh Oooh Tubbee,

At least Hearts didn't say to the press that it is better to play Barcelona than to play against a wee team who you can put six past. When Mixu made that statement he presumably hadn't realised he was insulting Barcelona who evidently wanted to play hibs for that very reason

#13 Indeed, Huggs!

The "Hundit" - the man in whose world everything is black or white. The man who stated Spartans were a "certainty" to join the SFL, for example.

But he's not very good at answering questions, I've noticed...
15

huggs,

26/07/2008 09:10:28
19 I have asked him a number of questions and am still awaiting a reasonable response
He states we are noe a weaker squad but cannot back this argument up
He then signs in under Bring it on and proceeds to back himself up while not commenting on a Rangers story who he supposedly supports
hunt1t should be his real name

It fascinates me that smoe Hearts fans rate Makela.
I have seen him play for us in every first team game he's appeared in and a few of the reserve games.
I just can't see anything to blow about...honest guys.

21 Remind us when was the last time you scored a goal
You have embarassed Edinburgh twice already and the season hasnt started yet
6-0 going on ten
Was on the Real web site and they are giving Barca a right hard time for playing a diddy team and taking 6 of them
What will they learn by that
Sound familiar Muchado tee hee
I have already asked yourself and Dublin Hibs to back up your satements about us not making the top 6 etc
Never a reply
You are struggling no good players a dumpling of a manager wage structure to Rival Mcdonalds Not looking good for you next season

23 Not saying Makela is the answer
But last season when we played Mole and Clum do you not think we should have went with Makela?
I dont beleive Frail had a say in the team that day against St Mirren either way he deserved to go for that alone
But thats me on a different issue

#22 Watch out for passing clones, BILEY.

You know, those malcontents whose aim is to make you look stupid. And as we all know, that's not true.

You're so smart that you claim to be "cloned" but say you won't approach the proper authority and get your complaint resolved because you might "risk being mistaken for a whining HhUMP"?

How smart is that? How logical is that?

Anyone reading this might think you had something to hide, eh Mu Cha-Cha? Or that maybe you're a liar..?

Slightly disappointed with the result.I was hoping for a good reaction from the players to the new manager and hopefully a case of playing for your future.
Oh well,as long as new players are coming in then iam pretty hopeful for the coming season.

I was at last night's game and i'm sorry but Makela is not the answer - very poor ineffective display faling to even control the ball never mind link up! Laszlo looked constantly frustrated by him so I suspect Juho has blown his chance! Miko was gash also!

I am sick and tired of complete f**kin idiots like that bigoted Cuntit and that complete W**ker Riley comin on to Hearts threads to post comments!!

However the fact that they do tells me one thing! They are absolutely kackin it that hearts will fulfill their potential. They are more worried by what we will do pre season, new manager, signings imminent etc.

It looks to me that each game of pre season we have steadily progressed. All we need now is a quality RB and a couple of decent strikers and we are set. Csaba seems to have given the squad back their confidence and lets be honest we have some half decent players who given the opportunity and more importantly the proper direction and encouragement can perform. My only worry as has been shown by the team last season is consistency. We showed in rare glimpses last season that we can be on a par with the ugly sisters with the demolishing of Rangers last season. so hopefully with 3-4 quality signings and the enthusiasm being instilled in the squad by Csaba this will have a galvanising effect on the existing squad maybe introduce some of the young players. It's looking good for the JT's!!

Now Cuntit and Riley away back to humping your sisters you inbreds!!

Worked hard and looked pretty comfortable from back to middle - the problem is in the forward / creative areas - i may be proved wrong but i can see us srtruggling for goals this season. What the team wouldgive for a Hartley or Cameron type of player.

Interesting Wally is saying 'Gers game against Kaunus is more important than the UEFA cup final. He's right - there is SO much face to be lost. God, wouldn't that be good - might even get rid of the Pondit and his Kilngon mates for good.

I beleive Andy Driver will have a great season. He looks hungry and can out pace most of the dross in the SPL. We desperately need a decent striker!! Anyone know of any that may be within our reach that we can bring on board for the new season?

#1(as always)Plumdit. I hate having to engage in conversation with you but your comments just pis5 me off so much. Please dribble your pointless "we're better than you"statements somewhere else. What you have to gloat about these days is not much really. Why not concentrate on your own team and their super summer signings, oh thats right you haven't made any. Everyone join me in the "SHUN THE PLUM"campaign and he might just go away. Rant over!
