NEWS

RESIDENTS on Barra and Vatersay have been granted £62,000 from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund for projects designed to reduce carbon emissions. The grant, paid to a local community group, will help fund a wind turbine, recycling schemes and aid local food production. The fund, launched in June, will allocate £18.8 million to local organisations over the next three years.
Meanwhile, Western Isles Council has announced it has allocated £750,000 to a fund to help community groups develop energy supplies. It has asked for applications from eligible local organisations to the Community Renewables Support Fund which has su...
