Published Date: 01 December 2008
LAURA Bush has said she will miss the White House staff most of all when her husband steps down as president on 20 January.
In a TV interview broadcast yesterday, she said: "I'll miss all the people that are around us all the time, from the ushers and butlers who are there for every president … to our own staff that we love to laugh with and talk with and solve problems with … I'll miss the people the most."

I'm sure that she won't be missed along with her ever so charming husband.

I have much sympathy for Mrs Bush whose life will soon be confined to the rednecks who are either friends with or working on the El Presidente Bush.

This stupid old junkie will no doubt be back to "Growing her own" back on the ranch. A idiotic redneck, just like her husband. Good riddance.

I don't think there are many "people" who will give a damn what you will miss.

If she had anything resembling a character she would have given her husband the bums rush long ago.

It's testimony to your seriously sad, screwed up, little life that you cynically abuse the login names of two dead and much respected posters. You should be ashamed of yourself and the Scotsman editors should deny you the opportunity to offend the families of the two dead men you mock by the use of their 'names'.

Revolting little man, you are. Go away.

It's unfortunate the Scotsman wrote such a thin article, that seems to poke fun at a great first lady.

(Or- Maybe they don't have the money to pay for a proper article. Or could be, The Scotsman chooses not to write about the admirable qualities of Republican women, including Cindy McCain-another extraordinary women the press ground up and spit out)

Laura Bush is one of the most popular First Ladies. who's work is very appreciated on issues of literacy, education, cancer, HIV, and heart disease research.
Kids especially love her because she's a school teacher and librarian.
No snob or wealth.

As much as Scots seem to snub US women, perhaps you can at least acknowledge the work Laura has done in Africa. She's been there many times working on prevention and treatment programs for Aids and malaria.

#2, Rob Bennett,

The Bushes have plenty of money. If she wants servants in their home in Texas, she'll have them.

Laura Bush did not formulate her husband's policies, and she didn't have any role in carrying them out. Don't blame her for the mess he has made.

Clearly it will surprise you to learn that in the USA wives are not restricted to mixing socially only with their spouse's friends. Laura Bush has many friends of her own. I'm not sure that any of the couple's friends would take kindly to being called "rednecks". Perhaps you don't understand what that is.

Mrs Bush's interview was more than one question and one response. It's a pity that the Scotsman, having decided to mention it at all, did such a poor job of doing so.

What vile comments from several left wing fanatics. Laura Bush is a very nice woman, she did not require a "make over" like Hillary or Mrs. Obama.

Also, what a bunch of hate filled ignorant comments about George W. Bush from the luntics on the left.

....I'm sure the same thing was said by Eva Braun about Hitler.
