NEWSPAPERS are fulminating against the Sovietisation of Britain as if this were a bad thing. Regions such as Inverclyde have been shown to have 40 per cent of their citizens in public-sector employment, with all that entails: warm offices, often with flourishing pot-plants; a cosy feeling of security; a deep sense of accountability; and an ethos of serving one's fellow man.
