Robin MacCormick (Letters, 6 October) asks: "If Scotland were to be regarded as no longer within the EU, what reason can there be for thinking that the rest of the United Kingdom would not be in the same situation?"
The fact that "the rest" have more than ten times Scotland's population might be influential. But let us be optimistic – if it will get England out of the EU, that is ample justification, by itself, for supporting Scottish independence.
