MOTHERWELL manager Mark McGhee will not stand in the way of any player who wants to leave in January amid reports that Sheffield United are keen on Chris Porter.
United had scouts at Fir Park in recent games and Porter, who netted 18 goals last season, is thought to be their target. The former Oldham striker's contract expires at the end of the campaign along with those of Graeme Smith, Stephen Hughes and Bob Malcolm.
"We had a massive bid for Mark Reynolds which we didn't take," McGhee said of the £1million offer from Rangers. "If Mark had insisted on going, we probably would have had to take it. If any bid comes in, we'll discuss it with them, and if they are determined to leave, they will. If not, they'll stay."
Motherwell travel to Falkirk today on the back of a 0-0 draw with Rangers.
Falkirk manager John Hughes believes his side are close to turning draws into wins to spark a climb up the SPL.
He said: "I wouldn't mind turning one or two of the draws into wins, but it'll come if the boys just keep doing what they're doing.
You are just wanting them every now and then to get a wee bit more rub of the green, but it'll come."
