A stand-out anthem
An anthem needs an evocative tune, stirring words, and to lend itself to the pipes, as these will carry it when sung in the open air (Letters, passim). One tune soars over all others: Highland Cathedral.
Why not ask the Scottish Arts Council to attract compositions from our makars for two verses to complete an anthem, inviting Liz Lochhead and James MacMillan to be judges?
