SULLEY Muntari's impending £12million move to Inter Milan will give Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp the funds he needs to mount bids to bring Chelsea's Shaun Wright-Phillips and Reading's Nicky Shorey to Fratton Park.
Muntari, the Ghanaian midfielder who joined from Udinese last summer, is set to clinch a switch to Jose Mourinho's Inter after saying goodbye to his Pompey team-mates and having a medical in Italy yesterday.

Redknapp said: "Sulley is a terrific player but, like everyone, you have to look at it if you get a very good offer. I wanted to keep him and would be sorry to lose him, but every player has his price."

The sale means the Pompey manager has sufficient funds again to make a realistic move for winger Wright-Phillips who has been one of his prime targets all summer. Redknapp is hopeful Chelsea will take £9m for the former Manchester City player and that could leave enough left for Reading left-back Shorey.

• Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Carlisle striker Joe Garner for a fee of £1.14million. The one-time Dundee United target is Colin Calderwood's fifth summer signing. Carlisle, meanwhile, have taken their former striker Michael Bridges back on loan from Hull.
