John Lewis sees its sales suffer

ABERDEEN was John Lewis's best performing department store in the week to 8 November, recording only a 2.2 per cent fall in sales compared with a drop of 9.7 per cent throughout the chain as a whole.
Edinburgh and Glasgow both recorded double-digit drops in sales during a week in which a "combination of economic uncertainty and grim weather" made for "difficult" trading, the John Lewis Partnership said.
Bucking the trend were handbag sales and games consoles, with the company reporting its best week ever for Nintendo Wii sales.
