Mosque attack plea by premier
BELGIUM’S Muslim leaders have called for calm after an attack on a Shia mosque in a Brussels suburb killed the imam and injured another man.
Belgian media reported that the attacker was a Salafists, a strict Sunni branch of Islam.
Premier Elio Di Rupo condemned Monday’s incident in which a man armed with an axe and a knife entered the mosque and ignited a can of fuel.
Imam Abdallah Dadou died of smoke inhalation.
