Final Star Wars trailer released
With less than two months to go until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits big screens around the UK, the final cinematic trailer has been released online. Fans have flocked to Twitter to share their excitement and theories about the upcoming film, which will be the seventh in the Star Wars series. Both and old characters from the franchise appear in the trailer, with Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford (otherwise known as Princess Leia and Han Solo) reunited on screen for the first time since 1983.
Footballer Djibril Cissé retires
Former Liverpool, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers striker Djibril Cissé has announced his retirement from professional football today on live TV. The 34 year old French player broke down after sharing the news on French channel Canal+. Cissé is best known in the UK for his three year stint at Liverpool FC and cited injury as his main reason for choosing to end his footballing career
Gilmore Girls Netflix revival may be on the cards

Hide AdIt looks like cult US TV show Gilmore Girls may soon be back on our screens for the first time since 2007, albeit via online streaming service Netflix rather than on television. Although currently unconfirmed, it has been reported that Netflix will produce four brand new 90 minute long episodes starring a host of series favourites including Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore) and Scott Patterson (Luke Danes).
Understandably, Gilmore Girls fans of all ages are overjoyed at the news and Twitter is currently buzzing with excitement. Sadly the death of actor Edward Herrmann last December means that Lorelai’s father Richard Gilmore will not be returning for the revival.
Chinese President visits UK for state visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan are visiting the Queen at Buckingham Palace today as part of their four day long state visit. The two heads of state lunched at the Palace before exchanging extravagant gifts. Soon President Jingping will address the Palace of Westminster and will likely mention beneficial economic opportunities between the two countries in his speech. As no reporters were allowed inside Buckingham Palace during the initial meeting, many have turned to the official British Monarchy Twitter feed for updates.
Women’s Equality Party launches its policy
Founded in March this year, the Women’s Equality Party has launched their first policy document today. Headed up by party leader Sophie Walker and co-founders Sandi Toksvig and Catherine Mayer, the party’s core objectives centre around equality for women, whether in reference to politics, parenting or education. Supporters of the party and its aims have expressed excitement at the official hashtag (#WELaunch) trending on Twitter and seem hopeful for the future of Women’s Equality.
