Refurbishment works are being carried out on the rail bridge on Newcraighall Road, which will force the road’s closure until January 18.
The route links Musselburgh to Craigmillar. Pedestrian access will stay open.

Network Rail spokesman Nick King said a 29-seater shuttle bus would be running seven days a week from opposite ends of the closure while it was in place.
The temporary service is scheduled to run every half an hour from 7am to 9pm.
Mr King said signage for road diversions should be in place by tomorrow.
He added: “One of the big electronic traffic signs has been up since December to warn motorists that the road was going to shut for a period. There should be signage in place.”
