Geldof in town to hear social business challenge to conventional enterprise
Social business, as defined by the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, is a non-loss, non-dividend company designed to address a social objective.
It will be one of the major themes at this year’s event, being hosted by Angus Deayton and taking place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Thursday.

Hide AdEvent organiser Josh Littlejohn, of Capital Events, said: “This is more than just an awards ceremony, it is a chance for businesses and entrepreneurs to realise that together they are the most powerful force for social change we have.
“The event will be challenging the business community to use their skills in enterprise to create social businesses that tackle pressing problems in Scotland and overseas. The current economic system is too narrow – it only reflects self-interest and maximising profit for personal benefit.
“The system needs to be expanded to incorporate a new type of business that exists to help others. We are hoping that Scotland can be a pioneer in this.”
