EDINBURGH Zoo giant panda Tian Tian has been given a Christmas cake in the shape of a Christmas tree as part of the Zoo’s festive treats for the animals.
The 11-year-old bear, who arrived at the Zoo in December 2011 along with male panda Yang Guang, was given a gluten-free cake made specially by her keepers.
The cake is based on a secret recipe supplied by the Zoo’s Chinese counterparts.
In captivity, pandas are generally fed bamboo diets, although Zoos may provide specially-made biscuits or other dietary supplements.
