Nicola Sturgeon backs condemnation of ‘utterly deplorable’ attacks on Scottish firefighters
November 5 was one of the busiest nights of the year for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), which was called to put out more than 500 bonfires across the country.
But there were also 12 incidents of firefighters being attacked in Scotland last night.

Hide AdMs Sturgeon retweeted a comment from Denis Christie, a firefighter from Glasgow, who told followers on the site this morning: “Hearing reports this morning of firefighters being attacked on one of the busiests nights for crews.
“Seriously cannot comprehend what goes through the minds of these people.
“Utterly deplorable,” Ms Christie added.
Sharing the comments with her own followers, Ms Sturgeon said she agreed “absolutely”, adding that “Last night was a tough one for @fire_scot crews and they deserve our thanks and support.”
