Nightclubbing: The music that got Scotland up on the dancefloor in the 90s
From mainstream electronic dance that seemed a direct descendant of disco to the more demanding European beats that fuelled the rave scene, there was a fracturing of the nightclubbing in the 90s, with venues catering more directly to specific audiences and tastes.
It was the decade of Britpop of rave and of grunge, and who could expect those completely separate strands to share the same dancefloor?

Nonetheless, we have put together a playlist of tunes that got pumped out of speakers at nightclubs cool and not so cool across Scotland.
As with our previous 60s, 70s and 80s playlists we have tried to nod towards homegrown talent where possible.
